On July 12, EducationUSA Advising Center in Albania organized the Pre-Department Orientation 2017 and the Competitive College Club Ceremony 2017 at University Marin Barleti.
The event was attended by Mrs. Meghan McGill, Assistent Public Affair Office, US Embassy Tirana, Mrs. Matilda Vangjeli, IRC Director, US Embassy Tirana, Prof. Dr. Marenglen Spiro, Rector, University Marin Barleti, Prof. As. Dr. Zamira Çavo, Pro-Rector, University Marin Barleti & Mrs. Orjeta Dhimitri, Accountant, University Marin Barleti.
The first part of the event was the Competitive College Club Ceremony, where Mrs. Lamaj introduced the program the CCC & PDO and welcome the participants.
Prof. Spiro, Rector, University Marin Barleti, took a short speech about the relation of the host institution with the Public Affairs Office at the US Embassy. Mrs. McGill, talked why is important to study in USA and the facilities that the PAO offers to support the Albanian students.
All the participants introduced shortly the school that they have picked for their studies and the Financial aid and scholarships they have received.
At the end of the first part, Mrs. McGill & Mrs. Vangjeli, gave the certificates to the students that have attended the 9 month program of Competitive College Club.
The second part of the event was the Pre-Department Orientation for students that will start school this fall. The guest speaker Mr. Arban Haxhiu, EducationUSA Alumni, talked about: First Days - dealing with jet lag and homesickness; Campus life in the US; Homework and reading: what to expect.
Mr. Diter Bitri, CCC Alumni, opportunity student, talked about Office hours, US coffee culture, Alcohol and smoking in the US and Campus involvement.
Mr. Jurgen Haxhiu, EducationUSA Alumni, talked about: Staying mentally healthy; Health and counseling services; Speaking English and Banking and financial management, insurance.
At the end of the session participants asked many questions and discussed their concerns.
