Writing 2x: Principles of Written Communication MOOC

Course Basics:

What: 15-week course broken into three distinct 5-week modules and focused on essay development, grammar, and self-editing. The course comprises a review of basic grammar terminology and understanding; writing effective sentences and paragraphs; introductions and conclusions; strategies for writing longer texts; and thesis statements. Course materials will be offered via readings and videos. Students will participate in online discussions as well as peer review of their writing.

When: First module begins November 8.

For Whom: This is a university-level introduction to academic writing for non-native English language speakers. Students should be able to follow lectures and readings in English (think first-year international students).

Facilitated Sessions:

What: Face-to-face meetings/workshops/discussions for a group of participants you have invited/identified to take the course. The sessions can be used to clarify issues raised in the lectures or to conduct supplemental activities related to the current week’s topic.

When: Ideally weekly; at least bi-weekly
