Scholarship opportunities by University of Tulsa in Oklahoma
The University of Tulsa is pleased to announce five new scholarship awards for the Fall 2014 admission class. The International Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Leadership aims to reward those students who have displayed academic excellence and leadership initiative throughout their high school careers. These newly acquired funds will provide international students full tuition and basic room and board during their studies. The scholarships are renewable for four years provided a minimum GPA requirement and full-time status are maintained. Students will be required to provide proof of financial funding in the amount of $7,000 for books, fees and personal expenses not covered by the scholarship.

The scholarships will be awarded to one international student from each of the following five regions: Central America and the Caribbean, South America, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Central Asia, and Europe.

The ideal candidate will have at least a 3.5 GPA during their high school career, have taken either the SAT or ACT, be nominated by a high school counselor and will have shown leadership initiative in their schools, families and communities. The ideal candidate will also have an official Internet-based TOEFL score of at least 80 or an IELTS score of at least 6.5, or a paper-based TOEFL score of at least 550.

In addition to these required documents, applicants should submit a nomination letter from a school counselor and a personal essay covering why they would like to study in the United States.

Students who are awarded a scholarship will be expected to contribute to The University of Tulsa community by participating in at least one on-campus event in a supporting role and by serving at least 20 hours in on-campus activities or organizations per semester.
